I was in the Science Library on a Friday night. yeah no shit. busy mugging the living shit out of game theory.
the even more amusing thing was that, when i reached the sixth level of the library, out of the 12 or so people who were there at that unearthly hour, half of them were RI guys from my year. 4 doctors, 1 mathematician, 1 economist. what a posse.
oh i was watching deal or no deal at michelle's house yesterday. then there was a sms contest where you guess the box that has $1000 and something lame struck me.
Suppose there are N smses that have been submitted, including that one vote that you might have submitted.
P(you win $1000) = 1/N (duh....)
Now, if you decide to call in and sms "X" more number of times.
P(you win $1000) = (1+X)/(N+X)
as n --> infinity,
P(you win $1000) = [(1/X) + 1]/[(N/X) + 1] = 1
yay!
sorry, trying to act all intellectual.
all for nothing.
oh yah, with regards to the previous NASH (rearrange and u get HANS) EQUILIBRIUM question,
apparently, what's said in the movie isn't the sodding NASH EQUILIBRIUM.
in that situation, just go straight for the blonde. you're bound to win. lol.
