Charisma Theory

If you keep close watch of my blog, you would have realized I haven't been typing much cynical, warped, mind-boggling posts of late.

Oops
Well, it's time to start them again. I know it's a character flaw that can never be erased.

I think a person's charisma, likeability and his ability to influence people has a postive correlation to the kind of environment that he was brought up in. It's highly dependent on parental upbringing, the kind of household the person lives in and the receptiveness of parents in their level of acceptance and accommodation.

I do notice a general trend that if parents are very accommodating, willing to host events at their houses, involving their relatives and their children's friends, there is a high chance this child would grow up to be a charismatic child. This stems from the fact that the children themselves are given the opportunity to socialize with age genres of all digits. Without fear or worry of bringing people secretly back home, they are able to invite their friends over for all sorts of fun, laughter, interaction and catching up. This further improves the individual's communication skills from young, improves his sphere of influence between his friends and his relatives, making him well-liked, amiable and sociable.

On the other hand, having a child grow up in an overbearing environment where the slightest mistake would net you a scornful eye from your parents, a beating, a verbal lashout, would serve to send his charisma factor spiralling into the doldrums. Not forgetting an environment where the parents shun people away at the mere mention of the phrase "can i visit your house?". Naturally, the child becomes very reserved, because the environment he lives in becomes mundane and dead. The same old routine everyday, with no surprises, no new events to look forward to in his house. He or she would fear the thought of receiving negative comments from his parents should he wish to bring friends back.

You see, my definition of charisma is based on first impression. Not based on the impression you get after knowing that person for so long. And charisma can be nurtured, provided if started from a young age. As one's personality starts to become firm, like how cement would harden into concrete over time, changing it when it is concrete would be rather impossible.

So if you want to improve your charisma, which obviously you can't, cause you would be too young to even differentiate Paris Hilton from Nicole Ritchie, I suggest you should just screw it. Cos your charisma lies in the hands of your parents. What they do in your growing years will ultimately decide how charismatic you will be. Of course, if you are rich, you can use money to buy charisma, no doubts about it.

Me? The answer is obvious. So treasure it if you had the chance. Because it took me 22 years to shove the fucking point into my mother's thick skull.

Sadly, it hasn't reached her brain yet. Permeating somewhere in her thick skull.
