Day 1 and Day 2 (Continue)

well i wasnt really jetlagged at all. so i got up early in the morning, took my digital cam in my hand, ran around and snapped pictures. lol.

place vanier. the hostel is freaking new.

yeah fields of green all over. so much green spaces everywhere. no wonder the air feels so fresh in the morning.

me in my running attire. i was freezing in the morning man. freaking cold.

self explanatory

whoa the big fat library. looks pretty cool. much more aesthetically pleasing in comparison to central.

my monster dinner on day 1. freaking 11 CAD zzzz.... beef plate (super size). beef slices, rice, pita and salad. not bad. quite filling.

my breakfast on day 2. bagel! nice. there was sour cream inside mixed with strawberry jam

clock tower of ubc

what a cool garden man

freaking xpensive parking. maybe cars are cheap here, thats why.

waterrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Day 2.7 - 2.9

yeah. i just woke up it's 9.30am over here. and 11.30pm back in singapore. i think the timing's pretty cool. when i'm awake, most singaporeans are still online using their msns. heh. ok more updates.

to left off, after i went back to hostel to unload the bulky stuff i bought from metrotown, i had the absolute intention of paying richmond town a visit. but apparently, the bus service from the terminal to richmond ceased to operate. damn. so i made my way to edgewater casino instead.

yup. myself. i was wearing a zara vest over my polo tee. weather's so nice you can wear this kind of stuff and walk around without sweating.

the train. how it looks like at night. there's this bus service that links you from the broadway station to ubc in like 20 minutes. it's called B-line. for a minute i was wondering why it was called B-line, then i was enlightened. "beeline". lol.

some gigantic tank lying outside of chinatown station. looks like stone age weaponry to me.

edgewater casino. located very near to the gigantic british columbia stadium. didn't take a picture of the stadium though. my camera's pretty bad at night.

jackpot!! the winning combination that netted me 34CAD in an instant. shrug. i won it in 4 minutes, while tying my shoelace and pressing. the lady beside me was a bit displeased.

gotham steakhouse. looks freaking expensive.

robson street in the night.

my dinner! hotdog!

cheese hotdog. with mustard, mayonnaise, onions, garlic. tasted pretty good. but kinda expensive considering it's 4 CAD. ouch.

okok. i'm leaving hostel now. will be going to omelettery at granville. they sell good omelettes there i heard heh. more pictures of richmond later! chao.

Day 2 - 2.6

funny. i see most of the people in my level. they bring a shit load of luggage, amounting to 3 to 4 trolley bags. while i bring one fat laptop bag and one big fat luggage bag. beats me man. what do they put inside? ten cartons of condoms?? hehe

ok picture time.

the bus service to downtown. apparently, in canada, they don't call it bus
terminal. they call it bus loop.

some of the buses run on electricity. cool man. reduce the burning of fossil fuels. but well in land scarce singapore, you can't afford to have all these kind of wires criss-crossing in the heartlands.

granville bridge. the view of downtown from the bus.

inside the bus. if you want to stop the bus, you must pull the yellow wire.
i dropped at the intersection of granville avenue and duinsbar st. the beauty of these streets are that they are constructed in a gridlock fashion. so navigation is a breeze. you won't really get lost if you visualize squares in your head.

cathedral!

yup catholic church.

from the front to the top

the priest was conducting mass. he was talking abt the beheading of John the Baptist. well i think i'm not supposed to take a picture, but i think God wouldn't mind me snapping a shot so that i can this beautiful architectural display right...

the place in front of the cathedral. a lot of asians gather here.

hmmm a flying duck that i spotted while walking down homer avenue.

i thought i might see tom cruise. hilarious. i didn't know they had this. i wonder what will happen if there was one in singapore

gas gas gas. no la. gastown. it's named after some notorious barber named gas something. these decorations define gastown. they are found at every lampost along the street. and the main street spanning the area is called water street.

steam clock. didn't have the chance to see it emit steam though.

details details.

gastown has a lot of cute dogs! i took one of them only because this one was pacified. the others looked big and intimidating. damn cute!! it knew i was taking its picture and started posing in this manner

hey honey. i didn't know you set up shop in canada. spying on me right..... haha

i would like to have an apartment of that nature in future. when i become a full fledged lecturer or smth.

yeah after gastown, i explored on my own and landed up in portside park.

yah myself. with ipod plugged into my ears. me and myself hehe.

this patch of colourful flowers was found in some deserted portion of the park. gosh. i'm surprised i had the balls to venture around. in fact there's quite a number of homeless people roaming around the area outside gastown and chinatown. dunch know what they are up to.

another church along chinatown

PRCtown. fucking boring. unless you want to buy seafood and roasted duck and chicken back home to eat, there's nothing to do there. the fashion's all wrong also. pokka dotted pyjamas. zzz.

the sleazier sidewalks of the suburbs near downtown

carnegie public library. i didn't take a look inside though. i still had my bedsheet and prepaid card to settle (which i didn't get the latter eventually. cos it costs CAD50 to activate the phoneline. there's no pre-paid system. it's a "pay-as-you-go" system which is rather ridiculous. i counted and eventually, autoroaming is cheaper in the long run for me)

sleazy corner. there were 2 viets completely pissed drunk on hard liquor. a few homeless people were pushing their trolleys with their belongings around. some were deep in sleep. there was another woman who sort of had some wardrobe malfunction. her top was too small and well.... shrug. apparently there was a couple nearby to the left that was having sex in broad daylight. she was wearing skirt and the guy's jeans was off. yup. i shall not describe more. urgh.

and so.... lunch was back at the old spaghetti factory at gastown. heh. yumyumyumyumyum.

the menu. cool thing is that for the entree that you order, it comes with salad, bread, hot tea and ice cream.

my carbo-laded meal. i ordered the cheese spaghetti which proved to be absolutely cheesified. and take a look at the bread. it's freaking huge!

they uploaded (wtf did i say upload? it should be uprooted) some electric tram thingey and placed it in the restaurant itself. pretty cool. and u can dine inside.

the general setting. nice i like. i only spent 11.40 + 1.60 (tips) CAD. that's about 20 sing. fair deal. man. i think if i ate this in singapore, might be more costly.

some guy painting all the sights and sounds of canada. pretty good. but pretty pricely at 20 CAD.

canada place. the equivalent of singapore's suntec city. for a moment i thought it was sydney opera house for a moment.

nice fountain

train train train. the train is freaking fast. i can afford to miss the train and the next one will come buzzing by in one minute. gosh if only singapore was like that.

inside the train. the carriages are not linked. so if u're in one cabin and someone just pooped or vomitted, good luck.

the view from the platform at metrotown. so much greenery evenly spaced out between the buildings!

metropolis. a bit like takashimaya. i bought my pillow, bedsheet and shaver. yeah my shaver rusted. no idea why. spent 40 CAD. but ok la worthwhile investment. got more pictures but i really too lazy to upload. i took 70 over pics man.

LOL! Mr Funny. Mr Impossible. Mr Perfect. nownow i don't remember seeing this in singapore.

i should wear this when i play dota or cs. it's a term that we coined up with, denoting the difficulty in virtually killing the person. "he's damn plastic!"

okok i still got day 2.7 - 2.9. but it's already 2.45am over here. and i'm still awake. and weirdly, i don't seem to suffer from jetlag. i think EOAC trains u well. when you sleep 2 hours everyday, somehow, your circadian clock gets kinda screwed up which has no absolute benefit whatsoever, except... jetlag! haha.

okok will blog more when i wake up. it's now 3.20am. msning with mich. shit i'm converting back to singapore time. cannot. cannot. okokm time to sleep. bebebebye
