Mmmmmm Zi Dou

Hong Kong in 8 hours. Won't be back till 2nd Aug. Till then.

I'm reckon I'm going to need a couple of umbrellas in HK, considering the hot hot sun. Diu.

Wonder where Leon gets all this funny stuff.

Will you be my Cinderella ella ella ella

No wonder this song is on the No 1. on the UK Charts for 10 fuking weeks. It's fuking good!
And of course, it's raining everyday at London. Lol.
The remix is even betta betta betta betta. Come, take an umbrella and sing with me.

ORD Lo. Let me summarize my teaching experience.

1) Leon, Farisa, Tim, Kenneth and my English has probably dropped a couple of notches.
2) I learn that Rihanna has two versions of this song. The one with Jay Z and the one with Chris Brown. A poll conducted with my students arrived at the conclusion that the Chris Brown one was more infectious.
3) I learnt that Ella Ella Ella is currently the most popular phrase that's going around in sch now.
4)
Girl pinched guy nipple.
Guy buay song, pull girl hair
Girl now buay song, then she koped $10 from guy wallet and placed it inside her blouse
Guy now damn buay song. Wanted his $10 back and gave girl 3s to return the $$
Girl refuse.
Guy pull her blouse and looked inside to see where his $10 was, and somehow... saw a lot more things instead of $10.
Girl run to female toilet and cry.
Mr Lin became the MOST buay song and had to miss his lunch and pee break because of this.
5) In my school, a Maths teacher is in a relationship with a Chinese teacher.
6) In my class, one of the girl is a stead to the other guy.
7) Watch where u go in causeway point.
8) Michelle's cousin is studying in the school also. Zzzzz
9) In Art, boys like to bully girls by drawing all over their paintings.
10) In Art, boys like to spill paint water all over the floor.
11) Students are more interested in learning why 1 + 1 = 0 instead of why Area of Triangle = 1/2absinC
12) I aspire to be the next GTO
13) I'm the cheapest and most skilled Mathematical labourer one can get in the civil service. I come at zero cost

you can stay under my umbrella
you can be my cinderella
ella ella ella ella ella ella ella ... ... ... ... ... ella (limit ella to infinity)

Shit. Hope they won't play this in Hongkong.

3 Thinking

I'm blogging this post while relieving the class. Apparently, my mentor is on MC again. So in a short span of 3 weeks, she took MC for 3 days. Not bad a deal right?

I gave them an incentive. Behave well and they will be dismissed for recess early. Well. Yeah. Damn boring. zzzz

So there are about thirty students in the class. If everyone in the class gave me their 45 mins worth, I would have 1350 minutes. Damn. That would be close to a day. I wish.

Ella Ella Ella Ella, under my UMBRELLA UMBRELLA.

Can you believe it? I koped this song from a student using Bluetooth connection via phone.

Most corrupted teacher ever.

Fly Fly Away

Flight nearly kana cock up. Fortunately, I called to double check. So i'll be flying on 28th Aug now. And I'll be back on Christmas Eve! Just in time for Christmas! Wooo.

Now I gotta bug MOE for my e-ticket, which should be at their side. zzzzzzz

So i'll reach Canada on 28th Aug. Plenty of time to relac jac, ski in the snow, run naked in the blizzard, breathe out cold air, shiver, wear many many many layers of clothes and laugh at all the clowns back home who are getting baked by the equatorial bitch of a sun. Heh. Okokokok. Sorry. Just being sarcastic.

But shit. I will be arriving in UBC on 28th Aug. So I have no place to stay until 1st Sept. I feel like taking a risk and not apply for early arrival. Cos I need to pay CAD50 for another spastic application. Ridiculous. I rather sleep at a student hostel and make my way to UBC. See how. Gotta recce. At most, I'll do a Tom Hanks somewhere in UBC.

So if Zhongwen gets his Lazard internship, he will probably be the first investment banker person that I'll know. Ouch. Hope four years later after my bond, he got place for me hor. Yeah right. Market gonna crash soon. I predict mid of 2008.

Sch's getting damn boring. Same old shit everyday. Area of Triangle. Area of Cylinder. Area of Prism. Area Volume Perimeter. Wtf man. Teaching the same old shit for 4 periods everyday is damn cock. Then when I start telling them 1 + 1 = 0, everyone including the other 4 scholars go "huh?"

Ok sleep time. Time to pack barang barang for Hongkong Land.

too much maths

No joke. 6 hours of tuition today.
H1 Maths J1 --> Differentiation, Integration
H2 Maths J1 --> NJC Integration (which of course, is a pain in the ass to teach, and the questions from NJ are horrendously difficult)
H2 Maths J2 --> Linear Regression and Complex Numbers

Managed to understand Regression in 2 hours with the notes. I even proved it to her why it works. Wahahaha. I should consider ST1131 man.

Well, so the 3 cheques that I'm collecting soon, which will be abt approx $1K, will all go to my Hongkong expenses. I plan to spend a bomb there.

Ok. I cannot play tennis. I hit 3 balls into some crappy grass patch which could never be found. The other 3/4 of the time, I hit balls straight into the net. Even Mich could hit better than me.

Sometimes, I get this very sad feeling that maybe our ministers might be trapped in an ivory tower, failing to see what goes on underneath. To say that the percentage cap of foreigners in our universities is of an acceptable number is certainly right. But failing to say that there's an existence of a balanced proportion within different faculties really irks me.

Come on. Take a look in PGP or Science/Engine Fac for that matter. I couldn't concur more with Gordon. A simple check with a typical Maths module namelist shows a percentage of 25%, with 10% or more consisting of dual syllable names, staring right back to you through the computer screen. So in a bid to separate the better lot of students from the normal students which I frankly must say, the former potentially being the foreigners who might probably have a headstart in their mathematical foundations, lecturers set insane exams that destroy most Singaporeans on a whole, with only a few standing to breathe and savour the occasional As, A-s and B+s. (Er, my A+ for Complex is a fluke. LP showed the complete disparity in standard)

I think trying to envy and emulate them is not exactly a good choice. Sure we Singaporeans might complain, but there's more to life than just plain academic fodder. It's the idea of seeking a holistic balance, a balance of work and play, which I just think some of these foreigners just plain lack. Yet it's sad to see that this people are the ones who actually deprive our locals of the much needed tertiary education that they need. And so instead, parents spend a financial bomb sending their children to private institutions such as SIM, Insead, UNSW (which sadly flopped), Monash, Stansfield, e.t.c, only to see these people enjoying Singapore government scholarships, some bond free, taking the crucial places needed by our locals to survive.

Either that, or the government is indirectly forcing us to buck up with the crowd, because it's either pull up your socks, or get left behind. And in the wake of the emerging China and Indian markets, the rising influx of these migrants are just impending.

I'm not absolutely sure if there's any avenue of discourse to air our grievances with regards to this, but even if there was, I wouldn't be surprised if it fell on deaf ears.

1) I think the bell curve system is ridiculous. If renowned universities such as LSE, Chicago, Columbia, Imperial, Berkeley can adopt a simple "meet the mark and get your grade" kind of scoring system, I don't see why NUS, supposedly being ranked 22nd, can't follow suit.

2) Omg. Please get Professors who can speak fluent English. And who can TEACH.

3) Transparency. Provide answers to the exams. Show our test scores. So we know WHAT WENT WRONG. We're just simply holding your word for our grades. What's one professor's word against 100 other students?

Well, let's see how UBC works. For starters, I don't see a single PRC maths professor........... yet.

Spoiler!

Wait. In response to the previous post, I'm making an assumption that English is the limit of the language sequence.

Anyway
Harry died but he was resurrected
Ron married Hermoine (wtf?) and had kids
Harry married Ginny (wtf x 2) and had kids
Voldermort died and didn't have kids
Snape died and didn't have kids

LOL! Happy Racial Harmony Day!

Catch no Ball

A fleeting thought about Singlish.

Singapore obtained her independence in 1965. With her independence saw the cohesion of many races and ethnicities, namely the Indians, the Malays and the Chinese, each with our own Mother Tongues and unique language that define who we are.

And hence, Singlish was given birth, a colloquial form of English, recognizable to Singaporeans and only Singaporeans, with the occasional inclusion of Malaysians. Which brings to my attention the amount of time taken for such a variant form of language to emerge. Give and take, and we can estimate the amount of time to be approx. 100 years? Consider the fact that Singapore was still a conjoined twin to Malaysia before the 1960s.

And so, phrases such as, "malu", "wah lao", "paiseh", "wayang", "bodoh", "catch no ball", "what you want", "what la!" have emerged as a result of all our Mother Tongues intertwining in a Braun blender, with the Ginsu razorblade performing precise eradication of verbs and shuffling of propositions and adverbs to create the Singlish Concoction. (I think it should be called Singlish Sling)

I have only one comment about this. Singlish defines us as the way we are. It's imperative that we know when to toggle, between the standard form of English in the globalized world, and the Sing My Glish form in the local community.

But it brings me to a bigger point altogether. If we accept the fact that Singlish is a variant of English, with ingredients coming from Malay, Chinese Dialects, e.t.c and in addition, we statistically show that a language of this nature was created in a short span of 100 years, logically speaking, would it be acceptable to say that language variants or matter of fact, can a new language be created in a span of a century?

Now mathematically speaking, if we treat the new language as a convergent limit of a sequence of languages, and based on other information that we have, for instance the permeability of language in a society, the length of existence of the original language before it's variant was conceived, can we actually find out when Man first communicated verbally?

Actually, in the Bible, how did God speak to Adam and Eve then? If we take Genesis literally, I suppose God communicated to them through a voice right? And if this voice was the first term "x" thousands years ago
in the convergent sequence of languages, if I find the first term of this sequence, and it corroborates the period of the 7 Days of Creation, can faith and logic/reason finally reconcile?

Of course, I'm in conflict with whatever I've learned, with the existence of Earth being carbon dated all the way back to millons of years ago. But if one of Newton's laws was disproved, so loosely speaking... carbon dating via the theory of halflife might not really be that true also rite...

HAHA NO WONDER I NEVER UNDERSTOOD PHYSICS. BECAUSE IT WAS WRONG TO BEGIN WITH!!

Sorry, just lamenting at my disdain for that subject.

Mr Lin Part 2

When you walk into a Normal Tech class, remember something, "just whack the living shit out of them".

Or else, they will do it back to you.

In the span of ten minutes, oh before I forget, I was relieving an ART class. Yeah, in the span of ten minutes, I have students spilling paint all over the floor. I had another drawing garbage all over another girl's artwork.

And a fight broke out today in class. 3 boys got sent to see the P. I took the class for relief after the fight ended. So errr.. I just told the class "you try to do anything like what happened just now, I will personally destroy you." Kinda worked. Lol. I managed to read 2 Chapters of Sophie's World fortunately.

Ok la ah. I'm still working on how to earn respect. But for this period, fear seems to be a better option.

Area of Triangle = (1/2)(base)(height) = (1/2)(ab)(sinC). For goodness sake. Is it that hard to remember?

Nothing much to talk about. I can't seem really to remember much of the day. Time flies when you're in the classroom.

__________________________________________________________________

Actually, I really don't mind coming back to this school to teach in future.

1) No need to fight the peak hour rush to town and back
2) After sch, I can walk back to house, change to PE attire, come back and do work. Oh I did that yesterday. And I told everyone that my CS3 was PE.
3) If the day is slack, woohoo. I can reach home and be shaking leg at like 2.30pm.
4) If I have shit day, I can still reach home at 7pm.
5) Some of the students are really quite funny and cute. I got this Sec 5 Malay student that I teach Maths to and he was wearing a straw hat and walking like a samsui woman, carrying stuff for RH Day.

Mr Lin!

School's getting quite funny. I was walking to my other class. Then I walked past 4 Commitment, then got one student stood up in the class while his teacher was teaching and he shouted, "Hello Mr Lin!" Wah, I was that popular. Haha.

Then when I leaving class, got 2 girls from my other class hide at the corner outside the class, coming back from another lesson and they went "Hello Cher!"

And I had to relieve a Chinese lesson today. The students think I'm some Chinese Dictionary. I couldn't even write medicine in Chinese.

Ok quick post. Time to sleep. I want to settle my personal stuff in school tomorrow.

Insert your rance

Oh you know you buy insurance for health protection right.
Welcome to Credit Default Swops. Or Credit Derivatives.
That's what you use when you want insurance from banks or financial institutions against companies whose bonds might have the potential to default. So in the event that they default, you get the maturity value, instead of losing everything.

So using hypothesis testing with a 1 percent level of significance and a whole lot of mathematical theorems, my very smart girlfriend has rejected the hypothesis, proving that the credit spreads in Japanese Yen and Indian Rupees are not equivalent, and there might be a potential of non-arbitrage to occur, i.e. you can make free money by manipulating the spreads to your advantage in Japan and India.

No wonder she endured the likes of Gan Far Fart. Hahahaha.

Yak yak yak

I think there's a couple of blessings you derive from teaching Upper Sec Maths.
You don't really need to prepare much material and you can walk straight into the class and deliver the lesson proper. Considering that my specialization is in Maths, all the theorems and concepts are firmly at my fingertips, ready at my disposal.

Lesson plans are quite ridiculous for my subject to some extent, because Maths is a subject that requires it to be taught systematically, unlike the other fields, like Lit for instance, where it's just a cauldron of grammatical and literal mayhem. So it's like the lesson for trigo kinda summarizes itself into 6 components

1) Trigo (why study trigo?)

2) TOA CAH SOH

3) PYTHAGORAS THEOREM

4) SIN RULE

5) COS RULE

6) AREA OF TRIANGLE

7) RECOGNITION OF SHAPES AND USAGES OF THE RULES

8) APPLICATIONS AND QUESTIONS

Pretty straightforward right? The biggest problem in my school that is, the sustainment of some semblance of attention and motivation. 3/4 of the time, they are talking cock, sleeping, writing non-related maths notes, e.t.c. So of course, how you expect them to listen and understand in that short span of the lesson. To make matters worse, you got a bunch of clowns in the class who enjoy disrupting the lessons by talking loudly.

So........ haha why bother? I noticed that those who hate Maths really love Aesthetic Arts to the core. I mean.. why force the cow to drink sugar cane? In fact, I encouraged some of the students to actually pursue what they like, instead of studying what the curriculum forces them to. But then of course, I reiterated that it was important to get the basics of the other subjects right, so that a bare minimum grade is attainable, sufficient for survival.

Which brings me to other point. Seriously in Sec Sch Maths, a Maths degree is completely redundant, unless you're teaching in JC. Perhaps background knowledge of MA1100 and MA1102 would suffice, otherwise, you're pretty much wasting your brain matter. Or MY brain matter for that matter.

I'm a subject motivator, somehow able to bring to life the applications and usage of mathematics into daily life, but I'm not a person/individual motivator. I find it difficult invoking enthusiasm and passion within people to like something, especially so for something they don't like. And ironically, when I push that point across to my students, they all seem to relate to me well. Maybe cause I paint a practical approach which many teachers don't usually do. Ok... I think I'm quite well known in 4 Commitment (Express), 5 Thinking 5 Dynamic, 3 Thinking
(Normal Acad). Maybe cos I talk a lot of cock in the process while teaching. -_-

But it's the other spectrum of students that I don't meet. Students with PSLE scores of 180 - 190. Yet, it's a definite that there are some who are really interested in studying and listening. And it's them who make your day. Or the occasional greeting that goes, "Yo Cher! Makan already?" Lol.

But my experience is turning very sour with the impending minister's visit. 1000 man/student hours incurred, just to wayang for minister dearest for 2 hours. It's a civil service disease. I don't remember experiencing this intensity of wayang during army.

Eeeek

Gee. I realized there's a typo in Question 15 of the integration exercise. lnx should be in the numerator instead of the denominator. Apologies for those who actually TRIED to attempt my exercise. My student took 1 hr to complete the exercise. Jialat. I think I will really kill all my students in their exams if I teach in a JC in future. Haha.

Hmm. I realized I'm extremely bad in teaching the kids E Maths. Elementary Maths that is. History has proven itself that I can do advanced mathematics but my elementary companion is atrocious beyond description. Back in RI, I would top the class in A Maths but I would be in the bottom 10 percentile in E Maths. For instance, in Sec 3, I scored 91 in A Maths (hur hur A Star) but 53 in E Maths. Quite a joke right.

It's like walking is such a simple thing to do for us humans. Crawling on the other hand, is an absolute pain in the ass. That's what A Maths and E Maths is to me. I can walk into the class teaching all sorts of nonsense about trigo, then suddenly, when I'm talking about congruency and similarity and standard form, I start to stutter and grimace. Hai. That's why ah I tell u. If I teach lower sec maths, it's like committing mathematical suicide.

I haven't had a chance to teach any Express class yet. Was teaching Normal Acad all the way. It's a very sad trend that I observe after all my classes from the past week.

1/2 of the class is paying attention. The other 1/2 are all relaxing in one corner, reading Berita Harian, sleeping, having their own focus groups or what not. Then within the 1/2 that's listening with all their heart and soul, 1/2 of them are completely clueless about what's going on, the other 1/2 nodding their heads with satisfaction of being enlightened.

So what matters? As long as 1/4 of the class gets it, that's the most important. Because I'm having a shit load of difficulty bringing my intellect down to an acceptable level. Ya la. I'm trying la. But sometimes, it's like asking an investment banker to clean the toilet at Newton Circus Hawker Centre. Get what I mean rite....

There's this teacher who seems to have something against us scholars. He seems to be going all out in trying to irritate us. Fortunately, he isn't a lit teacher. His sardonic humour does not have a single trace of quality whatsoever. Kudos to him for teaching the worst class in school, so I reckon his brains are pretty much fried with neurons sending all kinds of weird signals. Wicked eh.

My blog needs a few cheem posts. It's starting to become a boring diary, with me apparently sowing much discord with the civil service. I better be a good boy. I fear there might be a MOlE in MOE (HAHAHAHAHAHA)

zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Prof Lin

Some evil integration exercise that I concocted for one of my tuition students, using openoffice on my laptop. Damn action. I'm like a Transformer. I'm not an Autobot. I'm not a Decepticon. I'm a Wayangtron!

Magic Wayang

This is a magical wayang man. Watch it. I'm bloody impressed.

Wayang

I'm suddenly an English teacher. Need to help the students improve their expression, pronunciation and prose during some story telling session for Racial Harmony Day.

I tell you. I'm feeling like some high class sai gang warrior. Just because of a stupid visit and the whole school's in wayang mode. My mentor's on course for like the entire week. Lol. The students are sick of NE. So am I.

It's been six days. But to be frank, I'm not exactly fulfilling the main task of a teacher. TEACH. I have zero interaction time with students. If there's any interaction time, it's all about interviewing them for our project. Or doing some spastic shit for RHD. A lot of the teachers are all expressing displeasure. Either that or they are indulging in political correctiveness. One even said if you ended up teaching a Normal stream class, you start wondering why the fuck you are even doing honours in the first place. No wonder on average, you see 5 teachers on MC everyday.

Back to my fugging project again. Sibei dulan. If we tio the presentation on 26th, I confirm will fuck someone man. Student teacher whatever.

Sorry I'm just damn irritated. And the next person who scorns at this post and attaches a teacher label to me as a response, please go sign up for a MOE scholarship. You'll see what I mean.

Teacccher

You know there's a generation gap already, when you go and tell your students that Transformers is very good and they return your comment with a blank look on their faces. Something like "Err... what is Teacher talking about"

Great. I'm old. Period.

Ok. I sorta of taught my first lesson today. Was revising algebra fractions with the kiddos. Something like what you get when you take 1/(x-3) - 1/(x-2)/. I was quite alarmed when there's this guy who's about to take his O Levels and he still wasn't sure on how to do the above question properly. Should be ok la. I just gotta think "ah beng" can already. Teaching them quite fun actually. No need to act all tensed up and stuff. Just be yourself and multiply that with 10 times of cock. That should do the trick.

There's something about being a new teacher. It's like all the students, especially the girls, will peer out of their windows and look at you. There's also this teacher who's always dressed up with all the heavy make up, looking as though she's ready to go chionging after school. Not like I'm any better. I'm always wearing striped long sleeved shirts. With some occasional funky pants. I nearly wanted to wear my FCUK pink shirt today, but thought otherwise when I looked like I was planning to go Zouk in the afternoon.

Eh it's really damn shiok man. Come to think of it. I knock off from school at 4pm. Reach home at 4.10pm. Run and eat dinner and I'm free by 5pm. Hmmm. Of course the biggest problem is that some students from the school are like living in the next block. So seeing their teacher in singlet and shorts isn't exactly... that... tasty.

Ok. Project time. Gotta refresh my brain on how to use powerpoint.

Roll Out!!

WWWWOOOO Transformers is fantastic. The cock who gave a rating of 2/5 in the straits times ought to be shot. The way how the robots transformed was simply baffling. I wonder how they did the CGI for that man.

Such a pity that they didn't show like 3 cars merging to becoming one fat robot. Sixshot wasn't around also. Boooo. He was the only Transformer that I kept playing with when I was young. Lion, hovercraft, car, plane, gun and robot. They had better create Transformers 2 man.

Other than that, school's starting on Monday again. Wayang!

Oh ya. My tuition kid asked me smth. Are independent events mutually exclusive and vice versa? I got stuck. And I'm still stuck. Haha. Calling all maths wizards at Hogwartz Academy, give me a helping hand.

FriedDay

Singapore is a unique country that has 2 seasons. The rainy season and the summer season. It's summer right now. Every morning at the parade square, I'm the only clown that's sweating like a pig. That's why sometimes, in the morning I just anyhow shower, knowing that I'm going to be showering for a second time later at school. Maybe I should get a beach chair and get a nice good tan in school.

Seems that if you wanna climb quick, you better be a HOD 3 years after you leave NIE. If not, you're gonna be a chao farmer. Farm all kinds of vegetables.

I'm quite amused when I found out that the councillor's room is twice the size of that of the principal's. In addition, i get the general feeling that quite a number of teachers are just running out of steam. But the HOD of Maths is quite inspirational. An engineer by training. Yet he's the youngest HOD at 31. Wife also Maths HOD at Woodgrove Primary. RI guy mah. Haha.

I get the feeling that some teachers don't really welcome us also. The kind of feeling of "oh, these people, won't be teachers for long, before long, go HQ make some stupid policy that I got to implement and follow". But I must say the HODs and the P and VP are very interested in us. Always talking to us. Haha.

Ok la. The days don't always end at 6. Sometimes, at 1pm you can already leave school, especially if it's Friday.
The school councillor was telling us about motivational deficiency within students. I mean well.. it's quite true.
1) School starts friggin early at 7.30am.
2) There's no soccer or basketball CCA in school
3) School food expensive
4) Forced to do subjects you don't like (duh i can empathize with that)
5) Bigger issues at large (Gotta work to support family, family abuse, cannot afford to eat recess, e.t.c)

I don't advocate all rounded education. Neither do I think not having soccer and basketball as a CCA is entirely smart, considering that these 2 sports are the favourites amongst the male gender. But of course, it's crucial to raise it up in the project I guess. Some things gotta change.

Aiyah dunnoe la. Can't blog properly. I just woke up after sleeping for 3.5 hours. The heat is killing me. Thank goodness there's Leon. Joker siah that guy.

Arty Farty

Batik man. Seriously man, I rather study Chinese than do Batik.

The theme for the paintings on the left was "night lights" and the one on the right was "reveal". The latter is simply brilliant. Revealing what's underneath the human flesh.

This is mind blowing. Left for you to make an impression of, which I think is worthy of being hung up, in a museum.

The kind of stuff that I never ever get to see when I studied in Montfort, RI and RJC. They may be Normal Tech/Acad students, but their artistic talents seriously know no bounds. I salute these people man. Well these pics all taken with my crazy N73. So damn friggin clear.

I think if you want to be a good teacher, you need to be somewhat of a bad and slack student during your secondary school days. Because only so, then will you be able to empathize with the students when they sleep, when they fidget, when they become talkative, when they daydream. I should be teaching next week. It's either I'm the only person coming out of the classroom alive with all my students dead, or i'll be a flattened waffle pancake with peanut butter filling in between.

There's only one big problem. I don't know why I study so much Maths in NUS, only to have it all thrown down the dustbin, signed delivered and seal, mailed back to Uncles To, Ma, Tan, Tang, e.t.c If I want some semblance of advanced mathematical application, it's either RI or Junior Colleges. Sigh.

And the school's in a big hoohaa over the MOS visit. But well, I certainly would be pleased if I was given a chance to rub shoulders with him. But it's evident by the staff delegation that the Minister Team will comprise of the P, the VP, a PSC Scholar who's HOD of Sci and a Teaching Scholar who's HOD of MT. Heh.

2 hours man. The staff meeting today. Haha. It's amusing to see ennui written all over the faces of the teachers man. Some with their eyes closed, backs faced to the P. Some chit chatting like small children in one corner. Then some of the old teachers were cracking corny jokes in which their cluster were the only ones laughing.

It's been only 3 days, but I feel like I'm as good as a full time teacher there already. With days from 7.30 to 6, sometimes I really wonder whether I should be putting my brain to better use on the trading floor.
Side note. One of the HODs told us "matter-of-factly" that the son of the Principal of ******* Primary School broke his teaching bond. Ironic man.

First, identify yourself as right or leftbrainperson:

1. Hold your hands together, as if you were praying.
Look at your hands. If you see

Left thumb is below the right thumb ---> left brain

Right thumb is below the left thumb ---> right brian

2. Fold your arms in front of you (as if you are angry)

Right arm above left arm ---> left brain

Left arm above right arm ---> right brain

Based on 1+2 (order important), below is the interpretation of your personality:

Right-Left
========== Considerate, traditional, indirect type Can instinctly read other's emotion, and respond friendly by natures. Although not very into taking intiatives in moving forward, but this person will always take a step back in supporting others. Stable personality and considerate, give others a being protected feeling. But the weakness is they cannot say no; regardless how unwilling they are, they will take care of others.

Right-Right
=========== Loves challenges type Straightfoward. Once they decided on one thing, will take action right away. Very curious, and love challenges. Dare to face dangers without thinking through (sometimes foolishly). Their weakness is they dont listen to others, will filter in only what whey want to hear in a conversation, and very subjective. However, because of their straightforward attitude, they tend to be fairly popular.

Left-Left
========= Dedicated, cold, perfectionist Very logical in all aspects. The only way to defeat (or win over) him/her is through reasons. Has a lot of prides, and feeling strongly about doing the right thing. If they are your friends, they are very trustworthy. However, if they are your opponets, they will be very tough to deal with. Because they can be very "anal" as a perfectionist, they usually leave a bad impression of being hard to deal with when first met.

Left-Right
========== Likes to take care of others, leader type Has a cool and keen observation ability to see through situations, yet still can be considerate in others needs. Because of their cool and calm nature, and strong sense of responsibility, they tend to become head of a group. Popular among people. However, they may not be able to help themselves in meddling because they want to take care of others too much. Very concerned about how others view them, and always on alert.

Majulah Singapura

I damn long never sing the National Anthem and the Pledge. But that's besides the point.

Yeah. My school is the school that is the Centre of Excellence for National Education, having obtained the Lee Kuan Yew National Education Award for 5 years. So of course, my first day of induction comprised of NE (Nat Education for short) talks and meetings and tours and briefings and discussions. Of course, to top off all the appetizers is one whopping main course of a National Education Project which I'm praying hard that we won't have to present on 26th July, which I'm cock sure we'll have to present considering that our school is drenched in the issue
in it left right centre

Oh, last but not least, the mouth watering dessert comprising of a visit by the Minister of State of Education and the Director of Education (NE) on Racial Harmony Day. Woooooo. I won't be surprised if I have to wear the sarong kebaya or the sari and perform some Chinese Tea Ceremony demonstration. No la No la, I'm fine with it right?

I don't know whether I'm sarcastic or not. But considering the fact that my friend's blog (http://chillycraps.blogspot.com/) was recently investigated by MINDEF for certain remarks, I really don't know whether I should discuss about this whole thing or not.

Yes. I believe in National Education. No doubt about it. I understand the importance of the 5 Defence themes, the urgent need to foster racial harmoniousity in the wake of recent terrorist events, the ideal method of instilling and inculcating the crucial values into the young especially when they are the most impressionable and receptive. But based on a first day impression, it seems that sports in the school suffers in terms of diversity as a result of compromise. So are the teachers, whose workload are further amplified with the pervasive nature of NE being incorporated into their development schedules.

Yeah the discussion isn't exactly coherent because I'm kinda tired after coming back from Clarke Quay. But lemme just try to sum it up into points.

Advantages
1) Understanding the country for all its worth
2) Increase the individual's patriotism and love for the country
3) Have a better understanding of the need for racial cohesion

Disadvantages
1) More meetings. Take today for instance. Day starts at 7.15am. 5.30pm still got NE meeting. So err 12 hr day? I rather work at the bank. Lol.
2) Overdoing it. Trying to incorporate NE into Maths?
3) NE can always be taught through subjects like History and Geography or CCAs. Having any semblance of NE inscribed at every nook and cranny of the school seems like blatant propaganda. Maybe not so to the students.
4) Trying to conceptualize a very cheem framework when actually things are rather simple to begin with. It's a very dry topic to begin with. And making it more confusing isn't going to help.
5) Trust me. I was a student before. I rather dream about playing computer games in class than listen to NE.

Ok la. It's just the first day. I'm keeping an open mind. I'm just dreading the fact that whatever I'm studying in uni now is just going to be put to waste. I better start PRing more with RI or RJ. Hur hur.

Well, on a brighter note. My birthday came like 3 months and dunnoe how many days early! hahaha. On closer inspection, I realized that the shape of my thumb seems to be a common trend of that in relation to Down's Syndrome. Aiyoh. I'm semi-spastic i reckon.

Chocolate Banana Cake filled with nuts on the top. Very very gilat. Haha. Has been my morning breakfast for the past 4 days already. Thanks Michellllllle!! Hahaha. So this means that I'm prime already.

I'M OPTIMUS PRIME. WAHAHAHA. Shit it's 12.20am. I better go sleep.

My Casio.... and Paris

Yeah. My Casio G Shock watch of 8 years didn't work. So I went to pry open the entire watch set just to see whether I can fix it. Turned out that most of the parts were all waterlogged. I feel like blogging more, but the weather's just absolutely pissing me off. Maybe later in the night la.

Meanwhile, I'm just waiting for 4pm to come so I can get my hair cut. Because, tomorrow start school lo!
zzzzzzzzzzzz

Ok this is damn funny. I think both Paris Hilton and Britney Spears can compete to see who's the most ridiculous celebrity of the century.
